In Control Server Infrastructure (ICSI)

When making server resources available to operating systems and applications your demands are universal: the resources must be deployable in an efficient, flexible and reliable manner. The way this is realised differs per organisation. This is the starting point of the In Control Server Infrastructure vision that Inter Access has developed. You decide the degree of control you would like on performance, capacity, scalability, availability, flexibility, adaptability and costs of the infrastructure. This way, you avoid surprises and stay ‘in control’.

The challenge

Your organisation will also recognise itself in the following objectives:

  • Lowering the costs in the server environment
  • Increasing the uptime with a more stable environment
  • Reducing the pressure on your support organisation
  • Maximum flxibility and adaptability
  • Reducing power and cooling costs
  • Saving on Windows licenses and maintenance
  • Shortening the time to market with new applications
The solution

In Control Server Infrastructure (ICSI) offers the solution for these challenges. The concept is deployable for all companies with Intel/AMD, AIX and / or iSeries servers, but proves itself maximally in companies with 30 servers or more. ICSD is aimed at maximum availability of server resources at minimal cost. Virtualisation is the key word in this. This allows the physical processors, memory, connectivity and storage to be divided into smaller pieces that work together as one. This way, a server can support many more applications than in the traditional situation. Virtualisation of machines gives you full freedom to allocate memory, disk space and processors per server task. Moreover, you can reconfigure resources dynamically and automatically. Furthermore, virtual (Intel/AMD) machines can be moved to a different server (planned or unplanned) without users even noticing it.

The result

The business case for ICSI is extremely strong. We make a guaranteed ROI of at least 130% in ICT environments with a SAN. If you work with task-bound storage, the benefit is many times greater. A consolidation ratio of 8:1 is normal. This is mainly due to the fact that on average servers are only used for 10% to 15% in order to reserve capacity for peak loads. With virtualisation technology, the surplus capacity can be allocated to any server task independently of the machine – and even automatically. Let us list the advantages:

  • Free sharing of server capacity
  • Hardware independent (Intel/AMD)
  • Planned downtime is a thing of the past
  • Simple SLA tuning
  • Standardisation of server configurations
  • Fast availability of new servers
  • Integrated monitoring
  • Load balancing between physical servers (Intel/AMD)
The expertise

Inter Access has an extensive history in server infrastructures. In addition, we have been supplying and developing solutions in the field of server virtualisation, storage, networks and high availability for years. Due to our platform independence, we do not have to focus on set (combinations of) products. This provides the basis for objective advice and seamless integration. Besides (certified) expertise, we offer the necessary capacity to realise even large projects. If required, you can take over (parts of) projects completely. Thereby, practice shows that outsourcing leads to lower costs thanks to ICSI.
